MIL wanted to go the Butterfly house on Mackanac Island.

Here we have crystalis under glass, and a couple of butterflies fresh from the oven!

Some butterfly pictures inside the main building. It was a very warm and humid inside, as some of these butterflies are imported from the tropics.

Finally we are on the road and finally crossed the Mackinac bridge, and it is a beautiful wonderful drive through the U.P. (Upper Peninsula)

Now don’t think the U.P. is just flat fields as it is mostly forested. A lot of the forests were replanted by the CCC during Roosevelt’s Presidency during the Depression. Interesting enough they are mighty protective of these trees, and a lot of people assume that California is very evironmentally protective. DH says that a lot of the people who love to hunt, camp, etc. have made it so that a lot of Michigan is still has large areas covered with trees. I will post some pictures of the trees later!
MIL and FIL decided we needed to go somewhere just so I could say I had been…

Hmmmm where are we going?

CANADA!
MIL and FIL really love Cananda (the wilderness parts) as they had such a wonderful time there on their Honeymoon.

Too bad we were crunched for time because MIL and FIL had some business to attend in the U.P. ( Thats the Upper Peninsula ), and alas I spent 10 minutes in Cananda just to turn around and wait in a really long line to get back to the U.S., but it was nice to see this sign!

Sorry if you cannot make it out it says, “WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES”.
The customs guys at both borders were really nice, and we had a really nice chat with them both!
Here is a smile to from me to you!
