July 2005

I went to the store today, with my DH to pick up his uniforms. (he had attained a higher rank in April but only had time to sew on the new rank on one uniform)I had just picked him up from work so he was wearing his military uniform. You could not miss the guy in BDU’s.
I was tired from all the fun and frolic that Jo, Kirk, Pepper, The Boys, and I had last night. I was not in the best of shape for the shopping experience. Well my husband was at the counter paying the cashier so he could get his uniform back from the sew shop. A man came out of the aisle that leads to the electronics department carrying a bag. I dismissed him as I perused the shop waiting impatiently for DH to finish paying the lady, when the gentlemen in question calls out, “Sergeant Sergeant”. I turn, towards the man and he fumbles with his new purchase and reaches out a hand to shake my husbands hand in greeting. My husband for a split seconds hesitates, but shakes the mans hand.
“Thank you for all you have done to serve our country. You have and wonderful day and God Bless you.” The man turns towards me and waves, “God Bless you too ma’am, and Thank You.” and walks away between some clothing before I can do anything to Thank him or stop him. My husband looks down at me in shock, and smiles. “Wow, I wasn’t expecting that.” I say as tears start to prickle my eyes. My husband broadly smiles, “You don’t see that very often”. I am now faking that I have dirt or an eye lash in my eye because a full set of tears started their wayward escape. It is VERY rare to get that from around the Bay Area. I have had friends, and DH get yelled at, and given dirty looks etc. I just wanted to thank that man myself, because he made us feel really good. For really nice people, new friends, old friends and a Thank You surprise (borrowing this from Jo) WE ARE TRULY THANKFUL!

Well Kirk is here and will be leaving sometime this morning. Yesterday was a VERY long day, but meeting Kirk, and Pepper was more than worth it. We have told Kirk he must bring his wife and spend more time here, so we don’t have to do the world wind grocery tour. I will let Kirk and Jo go into that, so wait for their posts. You can find their links on the right side of this blog on the links section.

Pepper is firmly entrenced in Jo’s household. The boys are in love with him. I know Kirk will miss Pepper and vice versa. Kirk is very welcome to come and visit soon.

We will miss you very much Kirk. It has been a blast and a half to have you here. Please come back again, and maybe we can finally break out the magic mic! Not to mention the blackberry soju should be ready for embibing, so we really could do some damage singing the night away.

Remember you are FAMILY!

I don’t know what posessed me, but here goes another. I am so sorry Alphaville….

Let’s eat in style, it’s going to take awhile
Entrees can wait, we’re only baking cookies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are they going to burn or not

Let us eat dough or let us wait forever
I don’t have the power but i never say never
Sitting on the sheet, bakings a long trip
Carrots for the sad man

Can you imagine when cookies are done
Eating them goes straight to my bum
Creaming the butter and singin’ a tune
The eggs swirl like madmen

Forever gone, they are forever gone
I don’t want them to be forever, forever gone

Some like the water and all like the heat
Some like to whisk and some like the beat
sooner or later they all will be gone
why don’t they stay long

It so hard to take just one cause
I hate to break them up in fourths
Chips are like diamonds in dun
And melt in the oven

So many adventures couldn’t happen today
So many cookies on the tray
My dreams swinging out of the blue
Im so very full

Chorus Repeat

Ok…I think I need to stay away from song lyrics…BAD MILGWIMPER! :D

Hmmm My second post and I have to say that I’m still getting a hang of the program, and the blogging experience. I am having problems with comments. Your comments won’t automatically show up, until I have approved them. This bug should go away after your first post (crossing fingers), but comments will be automatically deleted (without my knowledge) if they contain profanity. I am so sorry to have to post this but like I said, we have bugs bugs bugs BUGS…or it might be the fact I haven’t figured the in and out of this program yet. Hang on folks it might be a bumpy ride.

Well yesterday was my birthday! YAY! Ok Ok I don’t like the fact that I’m one year older, but I hope I have gained some wisdom. Yeah who’s leg am I pulling here? I still make mistakes and my arms and legs have a mind of their own. There is no other recourse but to laugh at myself, but then again life wouldn’t be fun if you couldn’t find the humor. It also helps to have family and friends who laugh with you and help you off the ground, and share the ups and downs of this world. So I christen this blog >holds a large champagne bottle over my head< SOME LIKE IT HOT >Crash< hmmm I dont think my laptop liked that. Oh well.
